Makati police may evidence to re-investigate Dacera case?! Ito ang latest na pasabog ng Makati Police na parang bumaligtad sa dalawang naunang autopsy report!
Here’s the details:
Weeks after the preliminary investigation into the death of Christine Dacera was completed, the Philippine National Police presented new evidence that could further delay resolution of the case.

Lawyer Mike Santiago, who represents 11 respondents, said in a Thursday, March 4, press briefing that their camp received the day before from the Makati police a copy of a motion to reopen the case and admit additional evidence.

“And now that everybody is waiting, eagerly waiting for the release of the resolution on the preliminary investigation, they would want the investigation to be reopened? Not on the basis of newly discovered evidence, but on the basis of old evidence that is being presented only now,” Santiago said.
According to a toxicology report dated February 11 illegal drugs fluoromethamphetamine and methamphetamine were allegedly found in the crime scene. Meanwhile, a medico-legal report dated February 9 says semen was found in the retrieved specimen.

“The Makati City prosecutor’s office, however, had already closed the 5th and last preliminary investigation on February 17.”
“So how come they are just submitting this alleged chemistry report today or yesterday, when in fact this has been available as early as February 11, 2021?” Santiago asked.
“It raises a lot of doubts. Not only doubts, it raises also fear among the respondents, among us, among our camp. What’s being cooked behind all of this?” he added.

In a phone interview, lawyer Brick Reyes, counsel of the Dacera family, said the additional evidence supports their theory of rape with homicide.
“[This information retrieved by PNP should be added] to the investigation of [the] City Prosecutor of Makati because this is a very serious finding. With these findings, we now have supporting evidence for rape with homicide [and] violation of the dangerous drugs law,” said Reyes.

Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra told reporters to “wait for major developments in the Dacera case on Monday.”

Rommel Galido, John Pascual dela Serna III, Gregorio de Guzman, Clark Rapinan, and Valentine Rosales filed two sets of complaints before the Makati Prosecutor on Thursday, March 25.
Friends of Christine Dacera were represented by lawyer Mike Santiago.
Santiago reiterated that his clients took “all legal steps to defend themselves and restore their honor and dignity in the community.”

Complaints of perjury, libel, cyber libel, slander, malicious prosecution, incriminating innocent persons, and intriguing against honor were filed against Christine’s mom, Sharon, Sharon’s doctor, Marichi Ramos Fong, and Christine’s cousin, Katherine Ann Facelo.
Dacera family counsel lawyer Roger “Brick” Reyes, Makati police acting chief Colonel Harold Depositar, city police investigation unit chief Captain Danilo Oamil, and investigators Corporal Louie Lopez and Staff Sergeant Jun Alimurong also face the same complaints.

The individuals filed complaints against Sharon for “shaming, embarrassing and ridiculing” them by insisting that they drugged and raped her daughter.
In a separate set of complaints, Sharon, Fong, Facelo, Depositar, Oamil, Lopez, and Alimurong face unlawful arrest, illegal detention, unjust vexation and grave coercion complaints filed by Galido and Dela Serna.

Christine Dacera was a flight attendant who was found dead in a Makati hotel room on January 1, 2021. Her family insisted she was raped.

Initially, the police took 3 suspects under their custody, and declared the case “solved.” However, the Makati City Prosecutor ordered the release of the 3 detained individuals.

On March 12, the NBI filed complaints against Dacera’s 9 companions, their lawyer, and the police official who conducted the initial autopsy.

Lawyers of 5 individuals accused in the Christine Dacera case said on Monday, March 15, that they were studying the possibility of filing counter-complaints against Dacera’s mom and other individuals.
Lawyer Mike Santiago, among the counsels of Gregorio Angelo Rafael de Guzman, Rommel Galido, Jezreel Rapinan, Valentine Rosales and John Pascual dela Serna, said they would file complaints against Sharon Dacera because she insisted the narrative that her daughter was raped by her companions.

Santiago added that they would also file complaints against police involved in the case once they were identified.
“We are also preparing counter charges against the Dacera family for malicious prosecution, incriminating innocent persons, and perjury… They want to make it appear there was rape with homicide yet the NBI already categorically stated no rape occurred and that there was no homicide or accidental killing,” the lawyer said.
Her also said that his clients suffered too much and lost their livelihood due to the incident

“My clients have suffered so much. That’s why they are going after their persecutors for moral damages… They’ve lost their sources of livelihood. They’ve had sleepless nights. It’s been stressful, distressful for them,” he added.
Santiago also lambasted the reckless imprudence resulting in homicide complaint against his clients, Dela Serna, Rapinan, and 2 others for allegedly neglecting the condition of Dacera which led to her untimely death.

“We haven’t encountered a case like this where drinking buddies are sued over the death of a drinking buddy,” he said.

However, the Makati City Prosecutor ordered the release of the 3 detained individuals.
The PNP Crime Laboratory found traces of party drugs in the crime scene. It also conducted an autopsy on Dacera’s cadaver and found abrasions in her genitalia. In the latest autopsy report of the National Bureau of Investigation, it agreed with the findings on the party drugs, but argued that there were no abrasions in Dacera’s private parts.

On Friday, March 12, the NBI filed complaints against 9 companions of Christine Dacera, their lawyer, and the police official who conducted the initial autopsy.
According to NBI, those charged were Mark Anthony Rosales, Romel Galido, John Pascual dela Serna III, Darwin Joseph Macalla, Gregorio Angelo Rafael de Guzman, Jezreel Rapinan, Alain Chen, Reymar Englis, lawyer Neptali Maroto, Louie de Lima, and Police Major Michael Nick Sarmiento.

“Upward price pressure for the month emanate from the continued uptick in global crude oil prices and elevated fish prices,” Mr. Diokno told reporters in a Viber group message.

At home, gasoline, kerosene and diesel prices have increased by P3.05, P2.90 and P3.30 this month, based on data from the Department of Energy.

Some vendors have chosen not to sell these products. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed the average wholesale price of regular milled rice slipped by 0.1% to P33.31, while the retail price was down by 0.03% to P36.14.
Manila Electric Co. this month said electricity bills of typical households might fall by P14 in February.
The central bank kept the overnight reverse repurchase, lending and deposit rates at 2%, 2.5%, and 1.5%, respectively on Feb. 11 after inflation quickened to a two-year high last month.
Last year, it slashed rates by 200 basis points. The Monetary Board will hold its next policy-setting meeting on Mar. 25.
